In Movement expands the reach of our work through trainings with youth workers, teachers, counsellors, social artists, and others who work with young people. Our participatory trainings are designed to teach creative facilitation skills – building community and personal power by helping others to discover their own creativity. In Movement has done this in collaboration with Partners for Youth Empowerment through training intensives held in 2010 and 2011 at the In Movement facility for youth workers from all over Uganda. In Movement also held a 4-day training intensive in preparation for a 5-day residential art camp that was held at the Hope North facility in Bweyale in June of 2012
In Movement also holds Partner Teacher Collaboration Days, which are participatory trainings for teachers and staff from our partner schools and orphanages. These trainings allow the attendees to experience what it is like for In Movement students who are enrolled in our program. In the morning, they enjoy games, teambuilding activities and group discussions together, and then break into smaller groups and engage in creative workshops in a variety of art mediums. During the second half of the day, participants are able to deconstruct and reflect on their experiences, and share challenges they face in their work as well as best practices.
