July marked the halfway point of summer for the International School children, and what better way to spend the hot Kampala days than at In Movement with some awesome facilitators and arts activities! During our two-week program we were able to reach out to about 15 young children who would otherwise be spending their vacation days at home. We designed a program that allowed our participants to explore themselves through expressive arts such as music, drama, creative writing, gymnastics, and visual arts. Youth used these methods to come to their own understanding of self-awareness and teamwork. On the last day of camp, we held a showcase where parents and guardians were able to come and see what their young ones had been up to. Their art was displayed in the studio, they performed new songs and dances, shared their poems, and even drummed energetically to the beat they had collectively created.
